Our team comes from two backgrounds: LBM and SaaS. We are fourth generation lumber professionals, backed by a team of industry advisors. We come from this space and know the LBM industry first-hand thanks to our background in lumber trading and the family lumber mill. We've taken our industry experience and married it with technical know-how, AI engineering, and software development capabilities born from our team's extensive SaaS background to create the end-to-end software solution that the industry has been asking for.

Ryan Cahill

CEO + Co-Founder

Ryan's family has been involved in the LBM industry for over four generations. He grew up working for his grandfather on his timberland and properties. Both his grandparents worked for Lorden Lumber Co. and this company was how his father and mother met.

While attending the University of New Hampshire, he started working in the construction industry for a general contractor and developer. Then after graduation he worked as a lumber trader for Seaboard International, the largest wholesale operation in North America. While at Seaboard the idea of modernizing the industry was born thanks to his insight from all sides of the market.

Later in life Ryan left the lumber industry and moved into tech where he worked for numerous big SaaS companies. After leading several revenue and sales departments for SaaS companies he started his own consulting practice.

Marcell Haywood

CSO + Co-Founder

Marcell is an experienced technology entrepreneur and executive. Having built companies from zero to more than 1,000 employees and software products adopted by Facebook, Arc’teryx, Chipotle, Northrop Grumman, Apple and others, Marcell’s expertise centers around leveraging emerging technologies to transform traditional business models in the enterprise. 

This focus resulted in Marcell’s selection to global accelerator programs such as Techstars and as one of only thirty-five entrepreneurs globally selected as an Endeavor Global Entrepreneur at its 60th International Selection Panel in San Francisco. 

Outside of BuyChain, Marcell is also the Founder of Encompass, a technology and services platform designed to help real estate owners manage property services at scale.
